and it's cold!
So it's December are we are out of school due to ice and very cold nights, which we usually do not have that much of. All the better to read with!
ALLEGANT....what did you think? I couldn't wait for it, and loved it. Except (WARNING HERE COMES A SPOILER!!) I was so upset that you know who didn't make it in the end. I mean after all she had been through......really?..............well she didn't and maybe that makes it more realistic. I think I have overdosed on HALLMARK movies while we have been out....somewhat unrealistic but nice to watch. THE BOY ON THE WOODEN BOX by Leon Leyson, one of the new Lone Stars, was quite fabulous. Not an exactly happy read, but it seemed realist to me. A sad time. We must read so that we never repeat the same mistake. Such Horrors!!!!!!! We have so much to be thankful for. I think I will always remember one quote from the book....when something else was taken away from them whether it be the only blanket they had a night, or so many other things that were taken away, they repeated, "If this is all that happens,...... meaning they could survive this, thus giving themselves hope. What a brave man Leon Leyson was and what a remarkable memoir this is! Don't miss it!

Going to do better blogging!
From now on I am faithfully going to blog once a month if not more. Sorry for my past non-blogging!! So here goes!!
One of my latest reads......REACHED BY ALLY CONDIE. If you have read MATCHEd, you know this is the conclusion of this fantastic triology! I hated having to wait, and the 2nd book, CROSSED, left me in such a quagmire, that I could not wait to read it. I truly think it is a tad bit too long in the middle. Honestly, it is a large book, but it is definitely well worth it.

Keesha's House

REALISTIC FICTION MUST READ
At Joe's house, Keesha has found a safe place to live, and soon it becomes known as Keesha's House. Other kids gravitate to Keesha, finding safety in the rooms of the house and friendship and support among one another.
If you, or someone you know, have run away from home, or are thinking about running, here is a place you can find help:
National Runaway Switchboard
A Good Long Way by Rene Saldana, Jr.

When Beto Sr. tells his son that he either needs to follow the rules or leave, the boy--a senior in high school and a man as far as he's concerned--decides to leave, right then, in the middle of the night. Once he has walked away, though, he realizes he has nowhere to go.
The story of Beto's decision to run away and drop out of school is told from the different lives of Roel, Beto, and Jessy. They are all teens that live in South Texas near the border.
Most of their teachers can't see beyond Jessy's tough-girlfasade. Her parents are so busy fighting with each other that they don t notice her, even if she s packing a suitcase to leave. And Beto . . . somewhere along the way he quit caring about school. And his teachers have noticed and given up too.
